Welcome to my blog, which was created out of simple desperation to maintain a Web presence while I'm retooling my Web site, donscottgallery.com. Maintaining a Web site since 2001, I decided to shut it down temporarily, to save the hosting fee and to force me to rethink how I wanted to show my work on the Web.
Although I like having the ability to design my own Web site, I want to spend my limited time creating photographs. I'm a photographer, not a Web designer. I'm knowledgable about f-stops, shutter speeds and ISO settings; not so much about HTML, CSS, and Flash. So I'm researching how I might create a new Web site at a reasonable cost without having to be a Web expert.
Blogging is new to me. While I've done a great deal of professional writing in my past life in the marketing communications trade, writing does not necessarily come naturally for me. I'm a visual person, not a word person. And I'm not so sure I have anything important to say or whether anyone cares what I think. So, for me, starting a blog carries some trepidation with it. I'm hopeful that I can make regular and timely posts while working on the new Web site at the same time.
